What we Ate...

I find taking pictures of my food helps me stay on the right track as far as eating healthy since there is evidence!  So, I decided to document what we ate today.  I am actually enjoying eating healthier food and I do not crave the grease and all the bad stuff I was used to eating.  I started this journey to feel better about my body but I see if as a life change now.  I actually look forward to eating healthier foods.  I made meal prepped today for the work week and I actually cannot wait until lunch tomorrow to eat my salmon salad!  So, here is what we ate...

Breakfast:
Chloe and Eric had scrambled eggs with cheese and I had an egg white omelet with cheese and spinach.  I made some turkey bacon and some banana/egg pancakes which I did end up eating and then Chloe and I had kiwi.

Snacks:
Chloe loves these Graduates Ranch lil' Crunchies and I had a Chocolate and Peanut Butter Fiber Plus Bar which was 120 calories.

Lunch:
I used a 100 calorie Pocket Thin and put a teaspoon of Miracle Whip, turkey, half a slice of cheese, and romaine lettuce.  I also had  grapes and cucumbers with hummus.  Chloe had the same thing basically but no bread and she had her hummus on crackers.  I let her try hummus a couple weeks ago thinking she would hate it but she loves it!  Eric just had leftovers.

Dinner:
So I did splurge a little and had chili with beef tips in it.  I know I was having more calories for dinner so I made sure I kept it low for the first part of the day.  I ended up only have about 600 calories including breakfast, snacks, and lunch so I did not feel bad about it.  By this time, Chloe was starving and I added green beans, peas, and pears for her.  I like to add a veggie and a fruit to all of her meals to make it a more balanced meal.
My messy girl
So, there it is!  If I would have looked at these meals a couple weeks ago, I would have thought, "How Boring!"  but now, I am satisfied and feel good about what I put in my body!  I have come a long way!

Snake Saturday Parade

Yesterday we went to the Snake Saturday Parade which is a St. Patrick's Parade here in Kansas City.  Chloe was sick just the day before with a 102 temperature so I was sure we wouldn't be able to go but when we woke up that day, she was back to her normal self so we decided to go!
They always have the parade and then a carnival with rides and food.  Eric's sister Nena and her family always get there super early to get a good spot and bring sandwiches and drinks so we met them up there halfway through the parade because Chloe and I ended up sleeping in until 10:30, which was amazing by the way after going to sleep at 7 p.m.!

It was pretty hot too so that was a bonus and  we got to see people we knew up there.  I ran into my cousin Shana and her kids. Afterwards we went and had pizza.  I am so happy Chloe was not sick and we were able to make the parade.  We went last year and I want to make it a tradition to go every year.  Next year, I want to make a big breakfast themed in St Patty's food before we go.  So, I can't wait until next year but for now, I can focus on the next holiday, Easter!

Baby Weight be Gone Week 1

So this week I had a couple slip ups but overall I am proud of my progress.  We went out to eat at Applebee's and my boyfriend got the appetizer sampler and I just could not keep off of his plate.  I have not been overeating other than that and I have been having 5 meals a day most of the time.  I try to have breakfast, a snack, lunch, another snack, and then dinner every day.  This helps me to not over eat because when I have not ate a snack between meals, I tend to want to eat everything.  I am actually looking forward to the second week to see how far i can go.

Weight:I started at 142 and now I am 140 so, I lost 2 pounds.
Food: For breakfast, I will have a Fiber One bar, egg white omelet with turkey bacon, or fruit.  For a snack, I usually go for veggies and hummus, fruit, or a hard boiled egg.  I usually bring leftovers for lunch, a turkey wrap, or a salad.  Then for dinner, I have been making what I regularly do but I just eat smaller portions.

Exercise: For exercise, I have been doing YouTube work out videos and over the weekend, my family and I went on a walk.

Daddy's Girl

I am not gonna lie, my daughter prefers her Daddy over me 90% of the time.  She is a complete Daddy's girl.  I thought it would bother me but I absolutely love it.  Seeing her with her daddy melts my heart and I definitely understand why she adores him.  He is fun, silly, and Mommy is usually the one that brings the non-fun activities like bath time.
Every time he picks her up, she wraps her arms around him so tight and I can just tell she feels so safe with him.  When she sees him come in the door, you can see her excitement. She sleeps like a baby every time he holds her.  Right now as I type this, they are asleep on the couch and have been since we got home.
So what I am trying to say is I am blessed to have a partner who puts everything into being a father.  I want Chloe to be able to look back at this and see just how much her Daddy loves her and how their relationship started.

Day One- Baby Weight be Gone

After 14 months, I have decided to finally lose my baby weight.  By no means do I think I am fat or overweight but I do want to feel better about my body and be healthy.  Summer is approaching slowly but surely and I want to be able to enjoy going to the pool in a bikini and focus all my energy on fun with my family.  I have tried over and over to attempt to lose my baby weight but I have failed each time, so I figured by documenting every day (who am I kidding, prob every other day) it will help me stick to it.  So, let's see what happens!

Before I got pregnant I was always between 115-120.  I could always eat what I wanted and never exercised.  There was nothing fit or healthy about me, I was just skinny.  Little boobs, little butt, little everything.  The one area I always had an issue with was my tummy.  It seemed like everything I ate went to my stomach.  So when I got pregnant, I thought I would be such a cute prego.  I had unrealistic ideas of what kind of pregnant lady I would be.  I had this idea that I would be all tummy, dress up in cute pregnant outfits, and bounce back with a quickness.  Boy, was I wrong!

I ate everything in sight and not one last bite of food could sit on my plate (or fast food tray) without being stuffed in my face.  Around the middle of my pregnancy, my gynecologist started to tell me at every appointment I needed to slow down but I was too far in on the overeating food train, there was no going back!  I remember him telling me pregnant woman only need half of a sandwich more than the regular person.  When he told me that, I remember thinking, "How dare him!?"  It is funny looking back it now but I was offended, he should have known not to tell a pregnant woman that! In the end, I gained almost 60 pounds weighing in at almost 180 pounds.

Once I had Chloe, I did not have an appetite for the longest time.  That  along with breastfeeding and being so busy with Chloe, I just knew I was going to lose the weight by not eating very much of anything.  And I did but I decided to stop breastfeeding, my appetite started coming back, and the I started eating like I was pregnant again.  Even being full, I could not let any food go to waste.  I have tried and tried to start a diet and exercise plans but quit each time.  Saying I will start Monday has came out of my mind too many times.  So, I decided to really commit and I feel like this time is different.

My plan is to stick to a 1500 calorie diet.  I have done research and looked at different blogs on health and fitness (Mama Laughlin and Bender Fitness are my favorites) so I have gotten a lot of food ideas and let me tell you, it is so easy to meet that eating clean  and healthy food.  I am not gonna lie, I am not going to eat all clean but not only do I cook for my family but it is expensive, time consuming, and I will be more likely to cheat if I eat all clean  and let's be honest, boring food.  I am going to rely heavily on healthy snacks also so I do not starve myself which will lead to me over eating when it comes to dinner time.  I will workout 5-6 times a week and I am going to start slow.  I like Melissa Bender's workouts because she has a lot of quick but effective workouts.

Day One:

What I ate:
 Breakfast: Blueberries and Strawberries
Snacks: Brocolli, cauliflower, and Hummus and spinach salad with egg and french dressing.
Lunch: Not shown, Lean Cuisine Spaghetti ( I know it is packaged but it is easy!)
Calories in all: About 800
Mama Laughlins Chicken Skinnier Spaghetti found here.
Calories: Around 300 to 400

Exercise:
Ab, Arm, Booty, Leg Workout from Melissa Bender found here.
Ab 10 Minute Workout found here.

So, that is all for day one.  If you happen to be reading this and have any pointers for me, I would appreciate ANY advice.  I will end this post with a picture of my beautiful daughter....
